People who had complained to Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) against Asian Paints Damp Proof Advertisement at this youtube link have received final confirmation email from ASCI that their complaint has been upheld. While there is good likelihood that the advertisement will be modified or removed, but one should also read the fine print which says that the role of ASCI in the matter is of persuasion to advertisers, and it is not mandatory that the advertiser has to follow the advice given by ASCI.  Basically, ASCI is a self-regulatory body and not a governmental organisation. On Useless husbands and harmless fun by Asian Paints

March 3, 2014 by videv

Asian paints has released a new TV advertisement recently depicting husbands as useless.  The advertisement is causing some anger in the manosphere so I decided to take a look myself and found it is not just one, but a series of 4 advertisements. Husbands are Useless: Car The advt above which is shot in a moving car shows a brick wall in the car to depict the useless husband to whom our fine lady is talking to but who seems to answer in monosyllables! The next we hear an announcement aimed at this fine, responsible wife that husbands are useless and she should log on to Asian Paints website, and select her shades, mixes, whatever. In a similar vein, the other 3 advertisements show a dialogue between wife and husband where they show the husband towards the end of the … [Read more...] about On Useless husbands and harmless fun by Asian Paints

This is what a male dominated society looks like

November 20, 2013 by videv

A recent news which is making headlines is about illegal surveillance being carried out on a woman in Gujarat. http://www.deccanherald.com/content/369154/modi-aide-amit-shah-accused.html Calling the woman by a fictitious name 'Madhuri', the websites alleged that the illegal surveillance was ordered by Shah for his 'Saheb' and the police followed her inside malls, restaurants, gyms, airport, flights and even when she visited relatives and went to see her mother at a hospital. Singhal, who is an accused in the Ishrat Jahan case and is out on bail, apparently handed over hundreds of recorded telephonic conversations to the CBI to try to show how three key wings of the Gujarat Police--the State Intelligence Bureau, the Crime Branch and the Anti-Terrorist Squad --allegedly … [Read more...] about This is what a male dominated society looks like

February 8, 2011 by videv

http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article1159868.ece Referring to news item above: I am not saying it's not abused. Just because it empowers women and gives them a negotiating space, [there are demands] that it be repealed. This is male chauvinism.” Justice Ganguly pointed out that Section 307 of the IPC was the most abused with instances of even a slap being construed as an attempt on one's life. As a SC judge, Justice A K Ganguly believes that IPC 498a gives women a negotiating space. The citizens would like to know further from the learned SC judge all the other sections of IPC which are meant to give negotiating space to citizens. He states that IPC 307 (attempt to murder) is most abused. I hope it is not because judiciary treats charges like “attempt to … [Read more...] about Learn how to use IPC sections 498a, 307, and 376 to create negotiating spaces!
