In an encouraging development for married men - and maybe women too who don’t believe women should be living like parasites – a Delhi sessions court has asked a woman who asked for maintenance to find work within 1 year. Even though additional maintenance amount of 10,000 was granted for 1 year, the condition to find work seems unbelievable because of the maintenance regime in the India so far has been just-ask-for-maintenance-you-will-get-something-no-matter-your-own-role-in-the-problem. Supreme Court denies Delhi woman a claim on in-laws’ property
The Delhi HC judgment of Jul 2014 that a woman has no right to in-laws’ self-acquired property under Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA) has got the stamp of approval of the Supreme court as per this recent news. Woman has no claim on in-laws’ property: SC In a recent order, a bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and Uday Umesh Lalit also put an end to years of fighting between the woman, her in-laws and her husband by granting the couple divorce. To safeguard the rights of the single mother and her two children, SC ordered the husband to provide alternate accommodation/property in her name and pay monthly maintenance. However the judges made it clear, she will get possession of the flat only on vacating the father-in-law's property. On 11th Mar, 2015 in Rajya Sabha, government disclosed its intentions of making IPC 498A compoundable: Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, in a written statement in Rajya Sabha, replied with a "yes, sir" when he was asked whether government proposes to make Section 498A of IPC a compoundable offence by appropriate amendments in the CrPC."The government has the proposal to make Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code a compoundable offence, with the permission of the courts, as per the recommendations of the Law Commission of India and the .. Live-in relation doesn’t give immunity from rape charge: says Delhi HC

The ‘braveheart’ Rohtak sisters fiasco has probably shown name of Haryana in such ‘limelight’ that the chief of women’s commission there has instructed Superintendents of Police to book case against all false complainants under IPC 182, to check the misuse of laws meant to protect women.
