- Men spend double of what women spend on Valentine’s day.
- It is kind of Benevolent Sexism (short form BS – also bullshit), and a double standard where women want equality everywhere else when it suits them, e.g. in workplace (only high paying jobs actually), but appeal to men’s sense of being a protector/provider and chivalry on Valentine’s day.
- The woman says it is about a day of romance, to which Marc responds “If you are not getting romance other days of the year”… Yeah, that sure sounds phony and contrived to invent one day of the year about romance. And the undertone of expectations are very clear – a man gifts and provides, and that’s what gets the wheels of romance moving. So if the wheels of romance stop moving at other times, the man must be made to wonder what more he should be doing!
